S. Gerup: How to ruin someone's career as a violist
Free admission.
How to Ruin Someone's Career as a Violist is a work by S. Gerup, written for Þórhildur Magnúsdóttir. Working with grief, anger, and illness, Gerup sets out to musically express those forms of pain that can prevent a musician from performing, exposing how real life beyond the stage can reshape or even ruin an artistic career. Inspired by Hannah Arendt, the work asks what must be hidden and what must be made public when it comes to our private suffering.
The work was premiered at Dark Music Days in Iceland and comes to Klang as part of Northern Connection, a project building new ties between composers, performers, and festivals across the Nordic countries.
