BEYOND Lines is a multimedia composition by Georgian composer Sophia Sagaradze. A performance for the four musicians of the NJYD-quartet, live electronics, and lights – in which the lights take on a role resembling that of a performer – the performance also interacts with elements of installation. The piece is about the difficult process of destroying stereotypes, suppressing dominant commands inside oneself, and reaching, ultimately, a bigger sense of self. In a process resembling death and rebirth, the piece reflects on the continuous, endless cycle of the rediscovery of intimate truths which is necessary to finally find freedom.

Sophia Sagaradze
Georgian composer based in Copenhagen. Currently, her artistic work focuses on multichannel electronics, sound spatialization, interactive installations, and multidisciplinary performances. In 2022, she received the talent prize from Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen’s Foundation.
NJYD
Danish quartet which, since their beginning in 2014, have performed new compositions in a relevant and captivating way. The untraditional crew – flute, saxophone, guitar, percussion – creates new sounds and is the foundation for experiments which leads to development of exciting new experiences.
