Svafa Thorhallsdottir: Fantastiske Búkolla

Fantastisje Búkolla is a musical performance for children aged 2-6 created by Svafa Thorhallsdottir. 

Join us on an exciting musical journey where we meet Búkolla, a brave cow who wanders through a dramatic and mysterious landscape in the search for herself. On the journey we encounter fantastic natural phenomena, difficult challenges, as well as a new friends, all of whom help Búkolla on her way. 

With tenderness and curiosity, the story is conveyed from a child-friendly perspective, where the children become an active part of the experience. Along the way, they have the opportunity to touch stones, create music, and help get all the animals to safety from the dangerous lava. Fantastic Búkolla is a performance about the overwhelming forces of nature – about how volcanoes, smoke, and fire can be both frightening and beautiful. 

But it is also a story about how we are all forces of nature in ourselves, and how we, like Búkolla, can find our way, even when we face great challenges. With the help of friends, we can all find hope and strength in a confusing world. 

The talking cow Búkolla is one of the most beloved characters in Icelandic folk tales and has been portrayed countless times in children's books, films, plays, drawings and music. In this way, Fantastic Búkolla is not only an exciting musical journey, but also an insight into the unique universe of Icelandic folk tales.

Svafa Thorhallsdottir (1981)

Music teacher, vocalist, and choir leader educated at the Conservatory of Reykjavik with additional master studies at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. She has a great interest in the musical development of children.
