Composer Olga Szymula's Amalgamation is an orchestral work for found sound objects and home-built instruments collected and created by music anthropologist Eva Fock. In her work, Szymula searches the entire history of sound for unique and unheard timbres and explores the sounds of nature as well as the sounds of contemporary residual materials.

The orchestral piece will be performed by 2n MU from Aurehøj Gymnasium under the direction of teacher Merete Wendler. The work is accompanied by an electronic sound scape, where acoustic instruments and bursts of digital sounds merge.

Amalgamation is the third work in the KonstrukSoni-trilogy, a series of new compositions for school classes commissioned by Eva Fock, founder of the company Ears Wide Open. For several years, Fock has done instrument-building projects with children and young people. She draws her inspiration from natural materials, industrial surplus materials, and all kinds of instruments, and has created a large collection of instrument models.

In her compositions, Olga Szymula tries to explore the entire sound spectrum, its dynamics, its intensity, and its qualities. Her soundscapes are often accompanied by performance elements and films.
