The work can be experienced in the Performance

Along with 8 children aged 11-16, as well as two professional musicians and a performance artist, Uspået Frugt [literally Unforseen Fruit] takes aim at the circular and hierarchical systems that shape our culture and patterns of action. Partly the concrete tangible ones, such as power structures in families and institutions, but especially the more subtle ones, such as worldviews, information bubbles, and social norms.

Uspået Frugt is a cross-artwork between opera, object theater and stage symphony created by composer and instrument builder Lars Kynde and actor and performance artist Gertrud Exner/Teater Blik.

The roles in Uspået Frugt are played by instrument puppets: anthropomorphic, animated objects that play both the characters of the story and the voices of the music. No traditional instruments are included in the performance, and the performers play the piece by animating the instrument puppets based on the score's musical and choreographic instructions. The instrument puppets were developed and built over a 2-year period in a collaboration between the young people, Lars Kynde and Gertrud Exner.

Uspået Frugt is a story about formation, and the theme of formation can be attributed to several aspects of the project: Both in the creation of the work, where the children themselves are creators of the work, but also by virtue of the artists' desire to participate in the children's formation as people; an attempt to dissolve the usual division between master and student – and the usual division between educational project and professional theatre.

On stage, the puppet instruments thus appear in interaction with their master, and in the style of the story of Pinocchio or The Matrix, questions are asked about how it feels to be a puppet instrument, carried on hands and feet, and created to fulfill a special role in a system.
