New piece by Kirstine Lindemann

GRIDS: Ensemble Transduct

Musikhuset København

10/6 2022, 21:30

Vesterbrogade 59, 1620 København

"A study of transformation and deformation". This is how the Danish composer Kirstine Lindemann cryptically describes the piece – still untitled – that she has written for Ensemble Transduct – a formation of varying size, which for this concert consists of percussionist Kalle Hakosalo, cellist Oda Dyrnes, and trumpetist Christian Tscherning Larsen. Both Lindemann and Ensemble Transduct are characterized by an always dedicated cultivation of the unexpected; the not-before-heard; that which breaks with preconceived notions of what a concert might be. This linkage makes them ideal partners. In Lindemann's piece non-musical objects are transformed into music, while energy is transformed into sound via transducers. But the transformation and deformation that Lindemann is talking about must not only be understood literally: For her as well as for Ensemble Transduct, transformation is a constant state, where both the phonic and visual elements of the music are soft, plastic quantities that can be modulated and shaped a capriccio.
