CANCELLED! The concert is cancelled. The cancelation is due to travel restrictions caused by corona.
While the world has been separated by Corona, the British Distractfold Ensemble has tried to bring composers, musicians and listeners closer together. During the lockdown, they have recorded an album with solo works, The New Unusual, a kind of document over time, and three of the works will be premiered at KLANG Festival.
This applies to the sixth part of the American composer Andrew Greenwald's work series a thing made whole, British Lee Fraser's stereo work Scii Tenaph III and Israeli Sivan Cohen Elias' multicounterspeechless, which deals with the many fragments of information, misinformation and disinformation that crowed the brain: how to be in one place physically, while all the many voices swirl around one.
In addition to the three samples from the album, Distractfold also presents three new works from a project that had to be canceled due to the pandemic. Here you can meet Icelandic Bára Gísladóttir, who lets the ensemble's various characteristics come together into an organism consisting of fragile material - in the style of "mixing black oil and rusty metal together to produce brain freezes (but in a more tingling way)".
In South Korean Hunjoo Jung's Talk_To / abouT / wiTh_My…, the four instruments on stage unfold a psychoanalytic drama. Based on Freud's understanding of personality, an ego, a superego and the unconscious attempt to process the trauma that has created another element: a new self.
Finally, according to the composer, Swedish Alexandra Hallén's 4 musicians with heart beat sensors and VR headsets can be understood both literally and metaphorically. To a very high degree an international program.
