KUDZU / The Sixth Phase
31/10 2020, 20:00
2200 København N
Curious Chamber Players should have played Kudzu / The Sixth Phase. Due to covid-19 it is impossible to gather the whole group around that project, but it is at short notice they managed to put together an alternative program for a smaller crew.
Malin Bång: Hyperoxic (2011) celebrates oxygen as a human necessity and foundation for many other things in the world. In the work, there are i.a. focus on the communicative air that we use to speak and whisper, the organic air that we experience as breathing, wind or breezes, and finally the mechanical air that is used in several simple tools and machines. Salvatore Sciarrino: Let me die before I wake for solo bass clarinet is a modern classic. It is a work on the border of the audible, which consists of only one technique, namely some special multiphonic trills. You know the technique from many other works by Sciarrino, but here you get them in a highly concentrated form. Another great classic is? Corporel by Vinko Globokar. It is a very visual work where a person sits on the floor and in a tight choreography plays on his own body. This is the second time the work has been performed at Klang. The concert also features works by Marianthi Papalexandri Alexandri and Rei Munakata. The latter, together with Malin Bång, is the founder of Curious Chamber Players.
