Two of Denmark's leading ensembles specialising in contemporary music have joined forces in this evening's anniversary concert in Den Sorte Diamant. Pierre André Valade conducts the world premiere and furthermore the performance of three older works. All five works have been composed within the decade, in which the festival has existed.

The work by Bent Sørense is called Tunnels de Lumiére, tunnels of light. It is one among many of Sørensen's works circling around light, light and shadow, twilight and all thinkable kinds of luminous effects.

Rune Glerup has worked with many pieces with sounding objects. A kind of sound building stones illuminating and colouring each other. This also applies to his piano concert, where, in spite of the repeated and sometimes contrasting sound objects, you sense a developing expression, gradually turning less edgy, less categorical.

The work by Li-Ying Wu contains repeated objects or parts too. A ritornello is a dance in three parts, and into it is woven the inspiration from the mating dance of the Galapagos albatross.

The world premiere of this concert is by Islandic Bára Gísladóttir.

Gisladóttir's work and its movements are named as follows:

Music to accompany your sweet splatter dreams

     i. rushing down a steep steadily shrinking footpath on a 1995 green Nissan King Cab

ii. extreme long shot: blood spatters on Snowy Mountain

iii. the plastic wrapped corpse of your mother in burgundy crocodile leather wooden heeled cowboy boots

From the beginning of 2009 until the closing of this festival at June 10th 2019, an enormous amount of new, newer and modern classical music has been performed and premiered. The day of the anniversary is on June 4th, and the day will be full of concerts in and around Den Sorte Diamant, with participating artists from many parts of the Danish musical scene. All of them a part of the celebration of KLANG, the music, the composers and the ten years passed since the first festival. And, of course, there will be a toast for the coming ten years of KLANG.
