Sunday 12th June, 8:00pm, Festivalscenen, Republique, Østerfælled Torv 34, 2100 København Ø

Ensemble Kwadrofonik & Barbara Kinga Majewska

The Polish composers of tomorrow

Soloist: Barbara Kinga Majewska

Electronics, voices, instrumental noise and whispering is all a part of the sound-image in this concert, where the musicians and the singer, in the piece “Intricate Machine” by Wojciechowski, for instance, fights a brave fight to push the notes through the noise. Furthermore, in the almost 30 minutes long piece “September (the next reading)” by Blecharz, the noise is moving on the edge of the audible, and the intimate whisper becomes dark and scary. This concert offers an opportunity to understand what is happening among the young Polish composers with an ensemble who, besides from the works of Wojciechowski and Blecharz, will be playing ”Squares” by Rafał Zapała and a work with the image-provoking title “Oh to Rub the Waxy Buddha” by Mikołaj Laskowski.

Rafał Zapała:

Mikołaj Laskowski:
Oh to Rub the Waxy Buddha

Sławomir Wojciechowski:
Intricate Machine (2014)

Wojtek Blecharz:
September (the next reading)

The concert is supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republique of Poland
