THEME 2012: New French and Danish music: 18th- 25th of May

In 2012 new French and Danish music will be the main theme of ANMF. Under the Patronage of the Prince Consort of Denmark the festival will present the finest performers and creators of French and Danish music.
2012 also marks the year of Claude Debussy's 150th anniversary. On the background of this occasion, the festival honours this master of sound by putting his music into perspective with composers of our time who have been deeply inspired by Debussy.
French and Danish music have for a long time been in correspondence and sources for mutual inspiration. Debussy's interest for sounds has been taken over by the group of composers called 'spectral composers' who examine the spectres of music and their possibilities.
Girard Grisey and Tristan Murail - two important figures in the French spectral music - felt deeply inspired by the art of Per Nørgård, which is why the festival also offers music by the Danish nestor who turns 80 in 2012. Furthermore the festival presents music by composers such as Philippe Hurel, Pierre Boulez, Tristan Murail, Olivier Messiaen, Iannis Xenakis, Philippe Manoury, Rune Glerup, Niels Rosing-Schow, Hans Peter Stubbe-Teglbjærg ...
Be amazed by a rich programme that puts Danish and French music in a mutual perspective with highly profiled as well as upcoming ensembles, soloists, performers and composers.
ANMF repeats the 2011-success and offers concerts that mix the very best of the concert format with theatre, dance and the visual arts. Be surprised by experiences that go further than the normal concert and take you into an exuberant universe of visual sound art!
After the key acts of the evening you can relax with French cuisine or challenge your senses yet again with a late-night-concert in the festival café.
Stay tuned on this site for updates on the 2012-programme that goes online on the 2nd of April!
