Welcome to KLANG - Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival 2015. We are happy again this year to bid you welcome to a week’s festival at the Theater Republique Copenhagen. The festival offers a varied programme with some of today’s leading composers interacting with a selection of the most outstanding musicians from all around the world. Keeping up with tradition, Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen starts off the festival with a large-scale opening concert. The festival features different names such as the European top ensembles, Ensemble Modern and Ensemble Recherche, as well as one of the leading Danish sound artists, Morten Riis, and Canadian Nicholas Bernier, who early on has made a name for himself on the international sound art scene. As something quite uniquely, the Swedish pianist, Jonas Olsson, has taken on the almost impossible task of playing all of Pierre Boulez’ three extremely demanding piano sonate and 12 Notations spread over three concerts. Despite the diversity of the festival’s different concerts, they all, each in their own way, share the endeavour to look for new opportunities of artistic expression and to pave the way for the music of the future, and that is the driving force behind KLANG - Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival.
