The Royal Life Guards Music Band

The Royal Life Guards Music Band is coming to Den Sorte Diamant. The music band plays music by three very different composers.

Ole Buck is a composer of great significance for the New Simplicity in Danish music. But perhaps his works should be called natural phenomena. They grow so organically, sound so peaceful and strange that they seem to be sprouting up from the ground.

The music of the Icelandic Hugi Gudmundsson is dynamic, moving and free, and, like the program's last composer, Rasmus Zwicki, he has a twinkle in the eye, perhaps even a humorous twist.

Zwicki works with a poetic absurdity, a thoughtfulness in sounds and expressions that makes his works quite unique in Danish contemporary music.

All three composers have written a new work for The Royal Life Guards Music Band, a miniature work times three, from the hand of three widely different composers, played by one of Denmark's most beloved ensembles.

The concert is part of KLANG's great anniversary celebration and will also be performed at 5.30 pm.

From the beginning of 2009 until the closing of this festival at June 10th 2019, an enormous amount of new, newer and modern classical music has been performed and premiered. The day of the anniversary is on June 4th, and the day will be full of concerts in and around Den Sorte Diamant, with participating artists from many parts of the Danish musical scene.
